Send Alicia to Loyola Chicago (aka My Shameless Fundraising Plug)

imageHey Everybody,I leave to begin my MA in Social Justice at Loyola University Chicago in August. I've been blessed to get a good aid package but I know that I will need additional help to make this transition in my life. People close to me have asked how they can be a support so one of my closest friends created a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising funds to help support me in my journey to continue my education -http://www.gofundme.com/sendaliciatoloyola.If you feel led, please give, share this post or link my page to your social media accounts. Every bit of support helps and will be deeply appreciated. Here's a blurb from the page explaining a bit of why I'm going for my degree at this point in life:"Like many others, I have spent considerable time thinking about my purpose and what I want to do with my life. After years of working, soul searching and praying, I understood that pursing a degree in justice studies and community development would help me do that. My passion is for people and I desire to dedicate my days to serving others, teaching them that we possess the power to dismantle oppressive systems by responding to one another’s needs. I believe empowering others to think more communally can tear at the foundations of the systems that keep people from living purposeful lives. This is where school comes in. In order to be the advocate and leader I desire to be, I need to acquire more tools and that means going back to school. Any donation you feel led to give will help me in seeing my dream come to fruition. Nelson Mandela once said “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” and any contribution you make will empower me to learn how to fight for those in need."Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers and varied forms of support!Alicia
