It Struck A Chord: African American "Proverbs"

There is nothing remotely sagacious about the content of this posting. I am so tired of folks making weak caricatures that don't begin to describe the character of my people. We are more than things like this suggest and I am absolutely DONE with having to say as much. There is much wisdom to be reaped from the spaces we inhabit and culturally this is why some folks of other backgrounds STILL entrust us to protect their most valuable asset, their children. It's because its from our mouths you will hear things like- Keep your head up and don't forget to pray.- If God has brought you to it, he will carry and bring you through it.You will hear words that remind people of who they are, who they are meant to be and of a God who has created them with a purpose. So get it right and don't attach bullshit colloquialisms to the idea of proverb because they aren't one and the same.So without further adieu, here is a list of  "African American Proverbs" that struck a chord negatively this morning.
