Praising In The Wilderness

Psalm 63:1-4"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands."

Sometimes life gets hard. You find yourself in the midst of what feels like a wasteland, a dry and barren place. Looking at your circumstance you may feel anxiety, panic or terribly burdened. But - and situations like these lend to a but - this is just a season. My Love, its so easy to look at your present and drown in negativity because you see nothing but lack. I encourage you to follow the example of David shown in Psalm 63. Despite being in the wilderness and finding himself pursued by his enemies, David knew that the answer was in God.Charles Spurgeon describes it as this: " There was no desert in his heart, though there was a desert around him."David used his situation as a platform to set his eyes on God and not earthly things (see Colossians 3:2). David tells God that he will praise him as long as his body has breath in it.

Despite lack.

Despite feeling closed in on every side.

Despite being displaced.

He understood that situation DOES NOT dictate who you are nor is it indicative of God's heart for you. He loves you as much in your valley as he does when you experience those mountain-top moments.Be encouraged. If you are in a place of lack, praise God for what you do have. If you are feeling attacked, praise God for someone thinking you or your work worthy of such a pursuit. And if you feel like everything is going wrong in your life and you have nothing to be thankful for, praise God for who he is because he is constant, let his love be your covering.
